Kokoda Caravans Business Profile
Caravan World speaks with Summer Salvato, Sales Manager at Kokoda Caravans, to learn more about this Aussie company.
Proudly Australian made, Kokoda Caravans continues to deliver outstanding and luxurious offroad caravans to travellers of every stage of life.
Founded in 2011, Kokoda Caravans has been under the proud ownership of the Price family since 2019. Under the guidance of this adventurous Aussie family, Kokoda is focused on building quality offroad caravans that come with a wide selection of standard features to ensure that these vans are ready to hit the roads as a base model.
Standing out for good reason
Since the new ownership, Kokoda has experienced an exciting amount of growth and continues to strengthen its place in the industry with a “vision to cultivate a culture of like-minded staff who don’t just work in the industry but who have a passion for it,” Summer explains. “We live and breathe caravans, adventure and making memories.”
It is the people behind this brand that makes Kokoda Caravans different from other manufacturers. With every Kokoda purchase, you are not just buying the van itself, but buying a product that is built by a company that values more than just materials. You are securing your place as part of a “positive culture built on respect, inclusivity, diversity and passion,” says Summer.
The appeal factor
The target market of Kokoda’s caravans are people who aren’t afraid to explore the road less travelled – at least part of the time. Proudly built in Melbourne from the chassis up, Kokoda’s vans are built to withstand Australia’s harsh environments and offroad tracks, with a six-inch Australian steel chassis that sits on top of rugged independent suspensions, perfect for any offroad adventure.
As standard, every Kokoda van is fitted with the following features that are absolute must-haves for any travellers who are heading off-grid: 2 x 95L water tanks, 2 x 170W solar panels, 2 x 100AH AGM batteries coupled with a lithium ready battery management system, 2 x 20L jerry can holders, full size spare tyres (2 x for dual axle), large dual slide tool box to accommodate a generator on one side and a 12V cold storage on the other, as well as a generous amount of internal and external storage perfect for packing all the essentials you’ll need during your travels.
A sleek, modern exterior is one of the major draw factors of Kokoda Caravans. “Kokodians love that our vans stand out because they’re built to last and not just stand out visually. No flashy colours or busy designs, just rugged, quality, thoughtfully designed vans build to last and built for the adventures our beautiful, yet rugged landscape offers.”
Not the domain of any one group of campers, Kokoda enjoys a diverse clientele. From singles to couples to families, whether you are a part time, full time or good time camper – Kokoda is sure to have something that will fit your requirements. When queried regarding a fan-favourite, Summer was quick to answer. “Our standout favourite for couples is the Force 2; a stunning van with a massive rear club lounge and three separate zones in the van with a spacious centre ensuite," she said.
“Families on the other hand, tend to get excited about the MIA, which although compact offers a ton of internal space, perfect for the adventurous family who wants to get into even the tightest spots,” Summer explains.
Meanwhile, Kokoda's new offroad model, the Squadron 22'7" is quickly gaining populartiy, especially among large families, with the capacity to sleep six, or eight with the triple bunk option.

A healthy support system
Buyers should not be concerned about the support they will receive after purchasing a Kokoda caravan. Buyers can enjoy a three-year factory warranty (structural, plumbing and electrical) with every new caravan delivered from July 2022.
Kokoda’s care and service continues after the sale itself, attesting to its positive people-focused culture. New owners will be checked up on to ensure that they are travelling safely, and if they have any questions or need advice concerning their new van. “Kokodians know they can contact the same people they’ve been dealing with [at the time of purchase] or down the beaten track at any time.”
Join the journey
Innovation and creativity are at the heart of Kokoda Caravans’ building process. The company has gone out of its way to ensure all the hard work is done before customers arrive on the scene, however during the build process Kokoda invites its buyers to join them on the journey and will send images of their van being built from the chassis first arriving to the final finishings. Buyers are able to select what personalised options they want included in their van build, Summer explains, as well as choose one of Kokoda’s four stunning internal colour schemes, ensuring they have every opportunity to reflect their personal requirements and aesthetic and “will cater to their exact needs”.
Kokoda Caravan’s slogan reads ‘Strength, Passion and Pride’, and these principles are at the very heart of the company’s identity and aims. Simply chat with the great team and discover this for yourself.
