Submerge - waterproof wearable wallet and cardholder

Keeping valuables safe at the beach is always a concern for beachgoers regardless of season or location.

Designed by surfer Ronan Finnegan, who was all too familiar with the need to find a sneaky spot to try keeping his valuables out of sight, the Submerge wallet offers a solution for those sick of getting sand in their wallet or worrying about theft while out in the waves. The design of the wallet has been perfected over the course of one year, and is waterproof for up to 3m.

The concept of the wallet itself is simple — its inner component holds up to 10 cards, and it has sleeves on each side to secure keys and money. Where its design stands out lies in its external shell, which is a compact quick-drying TPU pouch measuring 4in by 5in with a fully waterproof zipper in addition to heat-sealed seams. Submerge claims that the wallet has IPX8 status, attainable only by certified testing labs that bestow this rating on products if they can be submerged at 3m for 30 minutes without any significant damage occurring.

To secure it, beachgoers have two options in the form of a carabiner or an elastic strap. The wallet can be worn on the arm or thigh, and its sleek profile means it won't stand out.

According to Finnegan, he started developing the Submerge wallet once he grew tired of trying to find an alternative solution. “Traditional wallets aren’t designed to be carried in the ocean or exposed to the elements,” he has stated. “I was fed up with leaving my valuables buried in the sand.”

For the environmentally-conscious it will come as good news that Submerge wallets are biodegradable, with modern TPU materials biodegrading within three to five years.
