Top Camper Brands: Offline Campers
Family-owned Offline Campers
Australian camper brands have some of the most interesting stories to share, so we spoke with Offline Campers to pick their brains about their origins and experience
As the owners of Australian owned and built campers, how did Offline Campers get their start and for what reason?
My wife and I loved camping and travelling and as a young couple, we loved the simplicity and ease of throwing swags and a tent on the roof rack and seeing Australia. Our first big trip was The Simpson Desert in our old 60 series Landcruiser, affectionately called ‘The Meat Wagon’. Within a few short years we had travelled the Victorian high country, Flinders Rangers and the mighty Cape York.
Once we had kids, we decided to upgrade to a soft floor camper trailer – we needed more luxury than a tent afforded us! Plenty of options were on the market but nothing that felt quite right and ticked all our boxes. As a result, I decided to build our own trailer. It was amazing and during that first year we spent over 100 nights camping in it – including a 6-week trip to Tasmania, along the Eyre Peninsula and many other locations.
After years in the soft floor trailer, we longed for an easier set up, reminiscent of the days when we could just throw a swag on the ground, but with the luxury of a camper trailer. The hunt for the right hard-floor camper trailer began. We had a large list of features that we wanted in the trailer; tough and light so we could take it anywhere; a generous kitchen with plenty of bench space; be easy to set up; have well thought out storage; space for the whole family and Australian made. Once again, nothing ticked all the boxes and once again, I decided to build my own.
Whilst camping along the Murray River, the first plan for a hard floor camper was developed. After showing friends the original CAD design, we received a lot of positive feedback. Then came the thought – what if other people couldn’t find their dream camper trailer? From there Offline Campers was born. After two years in research and development, culminating in a test trip across the Simpson Desert, Offline Campers released its first camper trailer – the RAKER. Now you too can own the dream: Luxury – Anywhere.
With such a strong passion in the industry, what would you say is your point of difference to other manufacturers and what would you attribute your growing success to?
Offline Campers is where luxury meets adventure. Our products are for those who love both a 5-star hotel and a swag, the stars in the middle of nowhere, and a bottle of bubbly.
The success at Offline Campers is attributed to the fact that we genuinely love camping, we got sick and tired of camper trailers that cut corners in terms of design and quality, so we started to design one that ticked all the boxes for real value.
Are all Offline campers made in Australia?
Our trailers are manufactured in Adelaide and the team is proud to be building the best. A number of our employees have been with us from the start and came on board knowing that they wanted to be part of building something great.
Are there certain brands of components that Offline Campers prefers to work with when building its campers?
We are passionate about genuine Australian made products, where they are the best, the strongest, and the most well thought out. Some of our favourites are the Australian Cruisemaster suspension, Enerdrive electrical, Dometic fridges and appliances.
Which one of your models is the staff favourite? Is there one that is a bestseller with customers?
At Offline Campers, we all have a soft spot for the Raker, its where our journey started, and still use to this day for family holidays.
As for our customers, our best-selling trailer is the Domino.

With a strong penchant for building something great, how does Offline test all its campers?
Everything is tested by the Offline Campers family and friends before it goes to market, whether it’s a quick weekend away for a second or third opinion, or 1000km of corrugations.
You mentioned you’ve travelled widely around Australia, are the three destinations you would recommend that everyone visit?
Dalhousie Springs on the Edge of the Simpson Desert
Farina underground historic bakery
Robe to Beachport for a bit of sand driving fun.
Don’t forget to use the hashtags #SATourism and #iloveSA when travelling through South Australia.
What is the one piece of advice you would give first-time and experienced buyers alike and what are your top three tips for enjoying your campers the most?
For a piece of advice, we would say to eat like a king, there is no shortage of storage for a gourmet meal every day, so enjoy your holiday properly.
As for enjoying our products, don't be afraid to go remote. Remember, the mattress of your choice ensures a good night sleep, so choose carefully. Also, you can't have too much solar; if you think you may need a portable panel one day, then you definitely do. No one complains about their batteries being too full.
Where can interested customers find your campers?
Offline Campers is rapidly growing, with the quality of its trailers reflected in its success at Camper Trailer of the Year (CTOTY) in 2021.
We currently have the Raker and Domino models available with many more on the way.
